Annie Smith – Counselling
As a person-centred counsellor I believe it is the relationship between counsellor and client which facilitates change in one’s growth and wellbeing. My aim is to create a calm, empathetic, non-judgmental environment for individual clients or couples.
I have a particular interest in helping people with anxiety, depression, overwhelm, low self-esteem and difficulties in close relationships whether with family or partners. I also support clients in communication skills, assertiveness, boundaries, shame, attachment styles and unhelpful thoughts or behaviours. I enjoy working with young adults at a formative time in their life. I am passionate about supporting those in the role of carer, encouraging them to focus on their own needs, limits and self-care.
As well as my private practice I am a volunteer counsellor with the Heart of Kent Hospice where I have experience in supporting clients who may be terminally ill, may be encountering anticipatory grief or may be bereaved.
I offer telephone, online, face-to-face and, weather permitting, walk and talk therapy. I also offer a free 30 minute introductory telephone conversation to see if we would like to work together.
My hours are flexible during weekdays and Saturdays.
